Two of Swords

indecisionstalemateavoidancedifficult choicesdenial

A blindfolded figure sits with arms crossed, holding two swords. A crescent moon rises behind them. The sea nearby is dotted with rocks. In refusing to look, they think they've found peace — but the rocks are real and the tide will come in. The Two of Swords is the carefully maintained non-decision.

Upright Meaning

You are avoiding a decision by refusing to look at the full truth. Both options exist, both have costs, and the blindfold you're wearing is self-imposed. Take it off. The discomfort of the choice is less than the damage of continued avoidance. The stalemate you're in exists because you are choosing it — choose differently.

Reversed Meaning

Finally being forced to choose, or information coming to light that breaks the stalemate. The blindfold is removed. The decision, however difficult, must now be made.

Two of Swords in Love

An unresolved relationship situation — a choice being avoided between two people, or between staying and leaving. The longer you avoid this choice, the more painful it becomes.

Two of Swords in Career

A professional decision being avoided. Weigh your options honestly and commit. Remaining in indecision has its own cost.

Daily Affirmation

"I remove the blindfold. I face my choices with courage and honest eyes."
